Hi everyone here we are again for a round up of day 2 and more
As you would expect a lot has happened since we last spoke if you have been following on twitter @chidi_oparah or @awsforbusiness you would have got most of the gist of whats new.
I was conflicted as to whether to wrap all the events up into one update or give it by the day and decided to give you all I have to date. The rest we will keep it agile and pivot as required.
Grab a cup of tea there quite a bit to get through I have tried to make it as brief a possible.
So let start with the most current information I sat in on the Keynote Address from Andy Jassy from AWS.
He traditionally along with Werner Vogels announce the new technologies, you can see the queues to get to the halls and packed seating.
Amazon SageMaker: This is a fully managed end-to-end machine learning service that enables data scientists, developers, and machine learning experts to quickly build, train, and host machine learning models at scale. This drastically accelerates all of your machine learning efforts and allows you to add machine learning to your production applications quickly. As part of the AWS Free Tier, you can start with Amazon SageMaker for free. Amazon Comprehend: Amazon Comprehend identifies the language of the text; extracts key phrases, places, people, brands, or events; understands how positive or negative the text is, and automatically organizes a collection of text files by topic. Learn More here…
AWS DeepLens: This is a new video camera that runs deep learning models directly on the device, out in the field. You can use it to build cool apps while getting hands-on experience with AI, IoT, and serverless computing. Learn More here…
Amazon Kinesis Video Streams: Makes it easy to securely stream video, audio, and other time-encoded data from sources like cameras, RADARs, thermal sensors, and other connected devices to AWS for machine learning (ML), analytics, and more. Learn More here…
AWS Fargate: This is an easy way to deploy your containers on AWS. A container is a complete runtime environment. All you need to do is build your container image, specify the CPU and memory requirements, define your networking and IAM policies, and launch. Learn More here…

Kubernetes is an open-source system for automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications. Learn More here…
Amazon Aurora Serverless (Preview): This is designed for workloads that are highly variable and subject to rapid change, this new configuration allows you to pay for the database resources you use, on a second-by-second basis.Learn more here…
Amazon Neptune (Preview): This is a fast and reliable graph database service that makes it easy to gain insights from relationships among your highly connected data sets. The core of Amazon Neptune is a purpose-built, high-performance graph database engine optimized for storing billions of relationships and querying the graph with milliseconds of latency. S3 Select and Glacier Select:
S3 Select (preview): Enables applications to retrieve only a subset of data from an object by using simple SQL expressions. By using S3 Select to retrieve only the data needed by your application, you can achieve drastic performance increases – in many cases, you can get as much as a 400% improvement.
Glacier Select: This is in general release Glacier Select, it works just like any other retrieval job except it has an additional set of parameters you can pass to initiate a job request. This gives you a more qualified and detailed data set Learn more here…
Amazon dynamoDB-update:
Global Tables – This gives you the ability to build fast, massively scaled applications for a global user base without having to manage the replication process.
On-Demand Backup – You can now create full backups of your DynamoDB tables with a single click, and with zero impact on performance or availability. Your application remains online and runs at full speed. Backups are suitable for long-term retention and archival. learn more here…
As I said yesterday I went off to the expo which opened a day earlier than I expect and had a good look round and did some interviews with some of the vendors here are some of the shots.
I will pull together the videos later and publish soon so standby.
