Zerto Virtual Replication 5.5 is here, bringing with it some advanced disaster recovery capabilities, both in AWS and Microsoft Azure. The vendor has also introduced a real-time analytics platform.
This newest version become generally available Tuesday.
The highlight, nevertheless, is the addition of faster recovery in Amazon Web Services, which is part of the company’s broader plan of tighter integration with the market-leading cloud provider. And this latest addition makes Amazon a much more viable recovery place.
The business continuity and disaster recovery software vendor promises its recovery is now three to five times faster than before in AWS, and claims that recovery will typically take around 15 minutes now.
Zerto is using its own intellectual property to improve recovery time objectives with AWS.
Previous versions of Zerto Virtual Replication used official Amazon Web Services APIs, which led to higher recovery time objectives. The company has a goal of featuring replication out of AWS by next year — it already offers that failback capability out of Microsoft Azure.
This will allow AWS customers to failback from the Amazon cloud to another cloud target for data protection in a hybrid cloud.
Zerto claims about 5,000 customers are using its products and services, and has priced the Enterprise Cloud Edition of Zerto Virtual Replication 5.5 at $985 per virtual machine.
